Salad jars are easy to prepare, and a great meal on-the-go option. Here is how to prepare your own, layer by layer:
1. BOTTOM – /dressing/liquid – olive oil, balsamic vinegar, spices
2. Heavy ingredients that hold up well when submerged in dressing – beans, cucumbers, radishes, onions
3. Grains, quinoa, brown rice
4. Heavy items that you may not want directly touching dressing when stored – tomatoes, carrots
5. Leafy greens and light ingredients that take up a lot of space – spinach, kale, chard, arugula
6. A small amount of heavy accent items – nuts, seeds, dried fruit
7. TOP – colorful and fragile ingredients – fruit, edible flowers, herbs
